Specialist at (404)842-6786 The Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention contemplates awarding a contract to assess the quality of
performance of laboratories and/or individual commercial tests which
use nucleic acid amplification techniques for the detection of MTB in
patient specimens. In an effort to assess the quality and effectiveness
of laboratory testing, an integral part of CDC's mandate to support
broad public health goals which include surveillance prevention and
treatment programs. CDC is interested in assessing both the
performances and practices in laboratories that use amplification tests
for detection of MTB. The period of performance shall be 30 months from
the contract award date, and the Government anticipates making award
prior to September 30, 1996, based on the availability of fiscal year
96 funds. No telephone requests will be accepted; only written requests
