High Voltage, Coaxial Cable Assemblies for the NEXRAD (Next Generation
Radar), Doppler Weather Surveillance Radar-1988 (WSR-88D) program.
Contractor must furnish all necessary personnel, material, equipment,
services and facilities to supply High Voltage Coaxial Cable
Assemblies. Specific performance Characteristics which must be met are:
(1) Operating Voltage: 20 KVDC; (2) Test Voltage: 30 KVDC; (3)
Operating Current: 16.5 amps; (4) Impedance: 50 Ohms maximum; (5)
Dielectric Withstanding Voltage: The cable assemblies shall withstand,
without any electrical breakdown, a voltage of 30,000 volts RMS, 60 Hz
applied for one minute between the center conductor and the connector
shell; (6) Insulation Resistance: 500 Megohms (min) between center
conductor and connector shell; (7) Operating Temperature: +5C to +40C
(+41F to +104F); (8) Storage Temperature: -40C to +60C (-40F to +140F);
and (9) Relative Humidity (Non-Condensing): (Operating: 20 to 80%)
(Non-Operating: 10 to 90%). In order to be considered, firms must
furnish detailed product data demonstrating their capability to supply
a product that will satisfy the Government's needs. This notice of
intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all
proposals received within 45 days after date of publication of this
synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the
Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses
to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of
determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Concerns
having the ability to provide this product are required to submit
written notification to the procuring office listed in this notice
within 45 calendar days from the date of this publication. In order to
be considered, firms must furnish detailed information concerning
their capability to provide this supply. Such information shall include
a minimum: name, telephone number and point of contact, and name and
telephone number of firms to whom this supply or similar supply has
been provided previously. If no qualified responses are received, the
Government intends to contract with Caton Connector Corporation,
