SYSTEM SOL 52SBNB6C9185 DUE 070896 POC David Merrell, 301-975-6308/
Pauline Mallgrave, Contracting Officer, 301-975-6330 The National
Institute of Standards & Technology(NIST) has a requirement for a
Position-Sensitive Proportional Counter (PSPC) and Data Acquisition
System (DAS), ORDELA Model 2660N or equivalent. This equipment is a
large (64cm X 64cm) active area, high resolution (0.5cm spatial
resolution), high count rate (10 to the 5th power), neutron PSPC and
DAS for use on a 30-meter Small Angle Neutron Scattering instrument at
NIST's Gaithersburg, MD Cold Neutron Research facility. The DAS shall
provide programmed control of all essential PSPC operations such as
Acquire, Stop Clear, Time Slicing, Data Storage, and Display. All PSPC
electronic tuning parameters (e.g. amplifier gains and discriminator
levels) shall be remotely adjustable from the DAS. DAS shall include a
programmable pulse generator to allow simulating neutron pulses at any
pixel location. DAS shall have 16K memory bins, one for each pixel,
that can be polled & cleared without interruption of the counting
process (i.e. memory shall be dual-ported). DAS shall include an
Ethernet interface for data transfer to a remote computer system. The
PSPC shall operate in a vacuum environment. All PSPC electronic
circuits shall be contained in a sealed enclosure located on the PSPC
back plane. This enclosure shall contain at least 2 ports for venting
to atmosphere to permit operation of the electronics in air. The PSPC
shall include an operations manual. The contractor shall certify and
provide test results to verify that functional requirements are met.
Requirement includes a minimum 12 month warranty. Delivery required 12
months from award, FOB Destination - Gaithersburg, MD. All responsible
sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the Agency.
Requests for the solicitation should be in writing. (0152) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0288 19960603\66-0004.SOL)
