seeking information on Commercially available water transfer devices
for transfering water from a variety of military water distribution
systems to safely refill military canteens in chemically and
biologically contaminated environments. Qualified systems should be
designed with human factors engineering and create no health, safety,
or human hazards for personnel. They must be commercially available and
meet the requirements defined below: The Canteen Refilling System (CRS)
must be lightweight, man portable and easy to use by Marines and
soldiers wearing chemical protective outfits, including Mission
Oriented Protective Posture (MOPP) IV gear. It shall enable the safe
transfer of water, without allowing the water to become contaminated,
from all military water supply systems to all military canteens in a
chemical and biological (CB) contaminated battlefield. It must be
compatible with a variety of military water distribution systems and
canteens, i.e. the five-gallon container, the four-hudred-gallon water
trailer (M149), the one-quart and the two-quart canteens. It shall
permit safe and quick connection and disconnection in CB environment.
It must not degrades after exposure to CB contaminents, must remain
functional after non-corrosive decontamination and shall have a service
