COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 5,1996 PSA#1609U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Contracts Management Division,
Cincinnati, OH 45268-7001 66 -- MASS SPECTROMETER (3) SOL C600624T1 DUE 061796 POC Contact
Point, Valen Wade, (513)366-2144, Contracting Officer, Lisa Bentley,
(513)366-2041 The U.S. EPA will award one (1) Firm-Fixed Price contract
on a competitive basis for the procurement of three (3) Mass
Spectrometers. Two of the three spectometers were previously synopsized
as C600624T1 and C600625T1. A brief description of all three
spectrometers is as follows: 0001 - A fully integrated computer
controlled stable isotope ratio system for the natural abundance-level
measurements of (1) the stable carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and hydrogen
isotopic compositions of gaseous samples, and (2) the stable carbon,
nitrogen and sulfus isotopic compositions of liquid and solic samples.
The primary application of this instrument will be for the study of
Carbon, Nitrogen, Oxygen and Water Dynamics in plant/soil systems under
stresses associated with climate change, such as elevated CO2,
temperature, and reduced soil moisture. 0002 - A stable isotope ration
mass spectomety system for the analysis of stable isotopes of carbon,
nitrogen, and sulfur in environmental samples. This system shall have
a minimum requrements of a) autosamplers for the automated analysis of
solid samples, i.e., dried biological tissues, plants, sediments,
soils, glass fiber filters (25 and 47 mm in samples, i.e., water
samples; b) microbalance interfaced with the system; c) reference gas
inlet system; d) computer system for control of the system; and e)
isolation transformer. 0003 - Stable Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer
(SIRMS). The instrument is targeted for the characterization of stable
isotopes in aqueous matrices. The near-term applications will involve
surface water supply tracing. The SIRMS must consist of a magnetic
sector analyzer, electron impact ion source, vacuum system with
turbomolecular pumps, electomagnet, digital mass selector, high voltage
supply, pressure gauges, instrument control panel, multielement
collector system, dual viscous inlet system, tube cracker system,
microvolume inlet system, workstation for spectral interpretation and
system control, and a printer plotter for data recording and graphics
plotting. For more specific information on these mass spectrometers,
please provide a written request for the referenced RFP to the
attention of Ms. V. Wade as identified above. Requests may be faxed to
the attention of V. Wade at 513-366-2107, however, a hard copy should
follow. No telephone requests will be accepted. If you submitted a
request for either of the two RFP's mentioned above, a request for this
RFP will not be necessary. Anticipated release date for this RFP is
June 24, 1996. (0155) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0226 19960604\66-0003.SOL)
