COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 5,1996 PSA#1609Sandia National Laboratories, Procurement Department 10244 (m/s 0214),
PO Box 5800, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87185-0124 70 -- SCIENTIFIC MULTI-PROCESSOR COMPUTER SYSTEM Contact Point, Kevin
H Kartchner (Contracting Representative), (505) 845-9175. Scientific
Multi-Processor Computer System. Responses to this notice will be used
to develop a source list for a Request for Quotation (RFQ) to be
issued by Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) in mid CY96. SNL has a
requirement for a new scientific multi-processor computer system which
will be integrated into an existing computer network at the
laboratories. The specifications for the new computer system will
include: (1) each CPU must be rated at no less than three hundred (300)
MFlops for 64-bit IEEE 754 floating-point numbers; (2) the overall
system must be rated at no less than seventy-five (75) GFlops for
64-bit IEEE 754 floating-point numbers; (3) the total memory of the
system must be no less than sixteen (16) Gbytes; (4) the system must be
scalable to at least sixty-four (64) Gbytes; (5) the system must
include at least two hundred fifty-six (256) GBytes of disk storage;
(6) standard FDDI, Ethernet, and ATM external network interfaces must
be provided; (7) the operating system must be compatible with the POSIX
standard (POSIX.2); (8) the base services of OSF/DCE must be provided;
(9) standard Fortran, C, and C++ compilers must be provided; (10) a
supported implementation of MPI version 1.1, or newer, must be
provided; (11) an option to increase the memory to thirty two (32)
GBytes must be available; and (12) an option to increase the disk
storage to five hundred twelve (512) GBytes must be available. Delivery
of the new computer system is desired no later than the end of CY97 and
should be available for benchmarking by July 1996. Interested vendors
who have a scientific multi-processor computer system which can provide
the above hardware and software capabilities within the indicated
timeframe are invited to furnish a written response to this notice to
SNL. The response should address, at least, how the vendor would meet
the above requirements. Vendors should bear in mind, however, that
substantial computer resources will be required for benchmarking to
fully respond to the RFQ which SNL intends to issue, and that no vendor
who does not, or cannot, submit benchmark results will be considered
for contract award. Written responses should be received no later than
30 days following the date of this CBD. Any information furnished will
be considered by SNL to be NOT company sensitive nor proprietary. This
is not and RFP or RFQ. Please mark all documents submitted: Ref:
