SOL NIH-DC-96-13 POC Donna M. Winters 301-496-4487. The National
Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, National
Institutes of Health, is recompeting an ongoing project which is
currently being performed by P.I. Medical Corporation, located in
Portland, Oregon (Contract No. N01-DC-4-2103. This requirement will
develop a high density percutaneous connector system for use in
auditory prostheses. Although this research will be limited to animal
studies, the ultimate goal is the application of the results to improve
auditory prosthesis for deaf individuals. It is anticipated that a cost
reimbursement, completion type contract will be awarded for a three
year period. The contractor will be required to come to Bethesda yearly
to present progress on their work at the Neural Prosthesis Workshop
sponsored by the Neural Prosthesis Program. Prospective offerors should
have established expertise in biomaterials, bioengineering, and
miniature electrical connector technology. It is planned that RFP No.
NIH-DC-96-13 will be available on or about July 31, 1996. Proposals
shall be due approximately 60 days after the date of issuance of the
solicitation. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall
