The Naval Air Systems Command intends to place an order under Basic
Ordering Agreement N00019-94-G-0291 with McDonnell Douglas Aerospace,
P.O. Box 516, St Louis, MO 63166-0516, for an engineering study related
to upgrading F/A-18 A/B US Navy Reserve Aircraft with Advanced Medium
Air-to-Air Missile carriages. This engineering study effort will
include development activities associated with retrofit of this
capability into F/A-18 A/B, Lots 7 - 9 aircraft. Integration of this
capability will require structural, electrical and thermal
modifications as well as product support and flight test support.
NAVAIR intends to negotiate and award this order to McDonnell Douglas
Aerospace, the designer, developer and sole manufacturer of the F/A-18
aircraft, and, as such, the only firm possessing the requisite
technical knowledge and expertise, facilities, tooling and special test
equipment necessary to perform this effort within the required
