COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 7,1996 PSA#1611USDA FOREST SERVICE P.O. BOX 96090 WASHINGTON, DC 20090-6090 R -- PREPARATION OF LUMBER PRICE INDICES POC H. Laurie Lewandowski The
USDA Forest Service intends to enter into a procurement for lumber
indices with Western Wood Products Association (WWPA) for a 9-month
term, beginning July 1, 1996. WWPA provides monthly indices for 10
species or species groups of western softwood lumber under an existing
contract. The method used by WWPA to prepare the indices is to collect
actual lumber invoices of the lumber sold in the western United States.
These indices are used to adjust stumpage rates on timber sale
contracts in the West to reflect market changes. WWPA has provided this
service since the mid-80's. See Note(s): 22. (0157) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0064 19960606\R-0008.SOL)
