Krutz, Contract Specialist, (601) 686-5361 The U.S. Department of Agriculture, requires the necessary labor, materials, parts, equipment and supervision necessary to replace the Air Handling System in the Administrative Wing at the USDA, ARS, Southern Regional Research Center, New Orleans, Louisiana. The work includes but is not limited to; Remove asbestos-containing material from the three mechanical rooms; Remove five AHU's and all supply and return ductwork from the AHU's to their penetrations through the mechanical room walls or ceilings; Remove portions of existing chilled water and steam piping in the three mechanical rooms containing five AHU's to be removed; Scrape existing insulation from mechanical room ceilings and prepare rooms for new air handling units; Provide five new air handling units; Provide ductwork connections for the supply air and outside air intake, and provide mixing boxes on air handling unit return opening for mixing outdoor air and return air; Provide steam to hot water converter, make-up water and steam piping, and provide hot water piping from converter to the five new air handling units; Provide sensors, conduit, wiring, controls, and all accessories and appurtenances necessary to connect new air handling units and converter into the existing energy management system to the extent required to make these items observable and controllable by the EMS; Other miscellaneous items of work including providing new electrical services, new lighting, interconnecting new AHU's into the existing building fire alarm system, painting, etc., as embraced by the plans and specifications. The work will be completed in 140 days. An IFB will be issued on or about June 27, 1996. An estimated cost of this project is between $250,000 and $500,000.
