request Screening Information Request (SIR). The Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA), Great Lakes Region, is initiating source
selection for the above referenced project. This screening process is
a result of the new FAA Acquisition Management System (AMS) in
accordance with Section 348 of Public Law 104-50. The scope of work for
the project is: PART A: Renovation of the west end of the Control Wing
First Floor, Attic area and Observation Bridge. Conversion of the west
portion of the Automation Wing First Floor into the Critical Power
Center and Renovation of Automation Wing Second Floor Stairway ''B''.
Work includes but is not limited to: 1. Demolition of existing concrete
raised floor system, doors, walls, ceiling systems, interior glass
windows, metal grating, mechanical air handling systems (including
units, piping, ductwork, diffusers, etc.) and electrical systems
(wiring, conduits, receptacles, fixtures, etc.). 2. Construction of
semipermanent wall, platform and dustproof partition for the removal of
asbestos fireproofing overspray, floor tile with associated mastic,
limpet on lath acoustical finish, cementitious wallboard, metal lath
walls, pipe insulation fittings, and other asbestos
containing/contaminated materials. 3. Installation of new raised floor
system, walls, doors, frames, interior glass windows, finishes,
fireproofing, partitions, attic walkway, platform, structural steel
framing, plumbing, and mechanical air handling systems, humidification
system, vacuum and fire detection systems, sprinkler system, and
electrical distribution systems, lighting fixtures, receptacles and
grounding applications. PART B: Automation Wing First Floor, Basement
and Host Area Rehabilitation (AWFF). The work includes but is not
limited to: 1. Demolition of concrete raised floor system, doors,
walls, sound absorbing panels, ceiling systems, carpeting, demountable
partition walls, mechanical air handling systems, and electrical
systems. 2. Removal of asbestos fireproofing overspray, pipe insulation
fitting, and other asbestos containing/contaminated materials. 3.
Installation of new raised floor systems, walls, doors, frames,
finishes, ceiling systems, plumbing and mechanical air handling
systems, electrical distribution systems, lighting fixtures,
receptacles, switches, and grounding applications. The estimated dollar
range for this project is between $7 milllion and $9 million. The
project categories as a percentage of total project cost are estimated
as follows: Asbestos Removal 17%; Architectural and Structural 20%;
HVAC System 24%; Power System 28%; Plumbing, fixtures and all
mechanical cost 11%. Estimated Issue of Request for Offer is September
1997 and award expected January 1997. Prequalification necessitates
completing the initial Screening Information Request (SIR). Contact
