(Site Code DACW17) The project consists of dredging approximately
1,018,403 cubic yards of material from the Entrance Channel, Turning
Basin, and Destroyer Slip, and placing the dredged material in the
Jacksonville Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site (ODMDS). A required
depth of 42-feet plus 1-foot allowable overdepth will be required for
the project except in the Carrier Basin where a 600- foot x 600-foot
section has a required depth of 50-feet plus 1- foot allowable
overdepth. The required depth in the Destroyer Slip is 30-feet on the
west half and 35-feet on the east half, both with an allowable
overdepth of 1-foot. The Jacksonville ODMDS is located approximately 10
miles from the project site. Work also includes turbidity and
endangered specics monitoring. Magnitude of construction is between
$1,000,000 to $5,000,000. Pre-Solicitation Notice will be issued on or
about 03 Jun 96. Invitation DACW17-96-B-0026 will be issued on or
about 15 Jul 96 and opened on or about 29 Aug 96. Cost of Plans and
Specification is $30.00. Checks should be made to F & A Mobile
District, and sent to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville,
Florida. THIS IS AN UNRESTRICTED ACQUISITION BEING SOLICITED AND
AWARDED UNDER THE SMALL BUSINESS COMPETITIVENESS DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM.
