(CDC) contemplates award of a five year contract (including options) to
provide the general public with clear and concise information about
HIV/AIDS, STDs and vaccine preventable diseases, which is current,
factual and consistent with CDC operating guidelines and directives.
Public access to information will be accomplished via toll free
telephone service. Services will be provided via live operators and
taped message systems. Confidentiality of the call and anonymity of the
caller shall be maintained at all times. Information will be
disseminated in a non-judgmental manner, with focus on responding to
the caller's questions and needs, educating the caller in the skills
and commitments needed to minimize health risk, and responding to the
needs of the caller. Services shall also include helping the caller
accept and utilize appropriate referrals and other sources of
information, and referring orders for Government approved publications
to appropriate clearinghouse providers. Requests for copies of the
solicitation will be honored if received within 15 days of the RFP
issue date, which will be on or about June 28, 1996. Requests received
after that date will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis
until the supply is exhausted. The date specified for receipt of
proposals will be approximately 45 days after the RFP issue date.

Telephone requests will not be accepted. All responsible sources may
