and Trademark Office has a requirement for information retrieval and
facilities management services for the Deputy Assistant Commissioner
for Patents and other areas of PTO as applicable. These services
include information retrieval, information research, and search
assistance services to aid patent examiners in the patent adjudication
process; library support services, facilities management operations,
classification technical support services, training support services,
and limited Federal Information Processing (FIP) services. The
objective of these services is to provide information retrieval and
facilities support services to support PTO's mission of the examination
and issuance of patents. PTO anticipates this acquisition to be for a
base period of one year with four additional one-year option periods
and to be set-aside for Small Business under Standard Industrial
Classification Code 7375. This competitive acquisition will be
conducted using a new streamlined acquisition process described in a
document entitled ''Department of Commerce Acquisition Process Case for
Change'' which may be found on the Internet at
http://www.uspto.gov.web/doc/bpr/. The intent of this new process is to
provide an improved acquisition environment which will benefit both the
vendor community and the Government. As part of this process, a Project
Agreement will be made available on the Internet at
http://www.conops.doc.gov on or about June 25, 1996. In accordance with
this acquisition process, the Project Agreement will serve as the
solicitation document for this requirement. Interested parties must
respond to the Project Agreement in order to be considered for award of
any resulting contract. Responses to questions or a printed copy of the
