REQ FOR INFO PRIOR TO PART. IN A MTG TO CONDUCT A TECH. ANALYSIS OF ANALOG SIGNAL PROCESSING & PREPROCESSING TECH & ASSESSMENT OF IMPACT OF PROJ. TECH. ADVANCES ON AVIONICS ELECTR FUNCTIONS POC: Mr. Stanley E. Wagner, WL/AAS, 513-255-7142. The Systems Concepts and Simulation Division, Avionics Directorate, Wright Laboratory, Wright Patterson AFB OH, plans to conduct a technical analysis of analog signal processing and preprocessing technology and assess the impact of projected technological advances on avionic electronic functions. For the purpose of this analysis, analog signal processing and preprocessing is defined as all those electronic actions which are typically performed between RF detection and the data stream input to a digital data, signal processor. The signal characteristics for the analysis will be derived from current and planned avionics electronic functions. The analysis will concentrate on, but not be limited to, (1) the impact of moving the analog-digital interface up-stream in the architecture, (2) alternative or more digitally compatible realizations of ``classical'' analog circuits, and (3) the advantages and limitations of the projected range of architectural implementations resulting from time phased technological advances in (1) and (2). The System Concepts and Simulation Division is seeking background information and conceptual suggestions which would contribute to the structure and content of the analysis. Interested individuals from government, industry, and academia are invited to submit information which addresses the analysis from either an evolutionary or revolutionary point of view. Submissions should be brief, nominally no more than five pages and sent to the point of contact shown below within 20 calendar days of this publication. These submissions will be reviewed for the purpose of inviting the author and/or alternate to participate further in the analysis in a meeting of all selected participants in the Dayton, Ohio area for two days of discussions on 30 and 31 July 1996. Details will be provided to the participants. This is a request for information only and the government is not in any way obligated to provide any form of compensation to the respondees. For further information, contact Mr. Stanley E. Wagner, WL/AAS, 513-255-7142. Mail responses to: WL-AAS, Building 620, 2241 Avionics Circle, Room N3-F22, Wright Patterson AFB OH 45433-7334.
