On or about Friday, June 14, 1996 the United States Postal Service, Facilities Service Office, 6 Griffin Road North, Windsor, CT, 06006-0300, will issue Solicitation No. 082530-96-A-0102 for renovations to Elevators 3 and 4 at the General Mail Facility, 25 Dorchester Avenue, Boston, MA. Sealed offers are due Tuesday, July 23, 1996 no later than 4:00 p.m. EST. No work can begin on this project before January 15, 1997 and the contractor will be responsible to coordinate all work as to minimize disruption to the ongoing postal operations to the maximum extent possible. Contract completion time is three hundred thirty (330) calendar days after award. The estimated cost of the work is between $400,000.00 and $550,000.00. THERE WILL BE NO PUBLIC OPENING OF THE PROPOSALS AND THE RESULTS OF THE ADVERTISEMENT WILL NOT BE PUBLISHED UNTIL AWARD OF THE PROJECT. There will be a preproposal meeting on Tuesday, June 25, 1996 beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Room B-27 (Basement Level) of the General Mail Facility, 25 Dorchester Avenue, Boston. Attendance is not mandatory but is strongly recommended. Work includes but is not limited to, providing all materials, labor and equipment required to provide new controls, motor drives, freight elevator doors, cab, signal fixtures and associated wiring to freight elevators #3 and #4. The work also includes elevator work, masonry, structural steel and electrical wiring and controls. A proposal guarantee is not required. Performance and payment bonds on Postal Service forms will be required from the successful offeror. Proposal documents and specifications (including specifics relative to basis for contract award) may be purchased for $30.00 per set from the Support Service Team, Facilities Service Office, 6 Griffin Road North, Windsor, CT 06006-0300.
