Potential sources are sought for slings or current sling adapters that allow either the M16A2, 5.56mm Rifle, and/or the M4, 5.56mm Carbine to be carried in an upright, muzzle forward assault mode while the weapon is suspended from the sling. These items shall allow the rapid, unemcumbered employment of the weapons from the upright, slung position to the shoulder position. They shall not interfere with the operation of the weapon. These items shall not require permanent modifications of the weapons or current slings. These items must meet the Department of the Army guidelines for a Non-Developmental Item (NDI). Interested sources are encouraged to provide the following information within the next 30 days from the date of this notice: company name, address, point of contact, telephone number, description of candidate item(s), and company brochures/literature regarding contractor capability. Sample(s) of candidate item(s) at no cost to the government are desired but not required. This should not be considered a commitment by the government.
