Weaver, Contract Specialist, ext. 7241 Provide professional A/E Services to design a construction project which will provide the site prep for the completion of a level 5 copper communication cable installation and the fiber optic backbone at this facility. The entire nurse call system as this facility will be replaced and integrated with a new security alarm system also to be replaced. Both of these systems will be integrated with the new state of the art phone system to be provided for in the design. The completion of the cable and fiber optic backbone will involve replacing cable that will be insufficient for this facility's future needs which may possibly include wireless communication, video -, tele-medicine, and tele-radiology. This facility already has an operational fiber optic backbone but is missing a run down to Bldgs 4 and 5, and a riser trunk line for the outpatinet addition. Additional space is to be provided for in the design to satisfy new needs as a result of the replacement, including telephone closet expansion (includes HVAC installation) or addition and possible communications center expansion. The PBX will have to be upgraded or replaced. The contractor to perform A/E services is required to be ''thoroughly'' familiar with EIA/TIA 568, 569, and 606 standards and to show such evidence. The contractor is required to provide evidence proving ''thorough'' familiarity with electronics ''and'' telephony. All work is to be completed 71 calendar days after receipt of notice to proceed. Selection will be based on recent specialized experience, professional capacity to accomplish the work, professional qualifications of staff and consultants assigned to the project. Estimated construction cost range is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. Area of consideration is restricted to A/E firms located in the state of Pennsylvania. Interested firms shall submit appropriate data described in numbered Note 24 by close of business July 8, 1996. Award of A/E contract is subject to availablity of funds. See Note(s): 24. (0164)
