The Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) intends to procure on a sole source basis, from Storage Technology Corporation (STK) the following equipment: (24) twenty-four Model 9490-M34 Timberline Control Transport Units (8-Stand Alone and 16 Library Attach), 24 (twenty-four) Model FC 4413 Non-Large library attach (8-Stand Alone and 16 Library Attach), 24 (twenty-four) Model FC 3311 One ESCON Adapter per CTU (8 Stand Alone and 16 Library Attach), 8 (eight) Model FC 9415 Overhead Display (Stand Alone), 3 (three) Model FC 9414 Subsystem Support Unit (1 Stand Alone and 2 Library Attach), 9 (nine) Model FC 9416 Additional Subsystem Support Unit (3 Stand Alone and 2 Library Attach). The proprietary equipment is available only from Storage Technology Corporation (the original equipment manufacturer). STK will supply all necessary ESCON cables, equipment, and installation of this equipment without disruption to data center operations. HCFA does not intend to replace current STK 9310 Powderhorn Tape Library technology, and intends on trading in current STK equipment. No formal solicitation document is available. If no responses are received within 15 calendar days from the published date of this notice, HCFA will proceed with a contract to Storage Technology Corporation.
