Wandick (816) 426-6823 x237 The government intends to procure Low Loss Preselect Bandpass Filters for the NEXRAD (Next Generation Radar), Doppler Weather Surveillance Radar - 1988 (WSR-88D) program. Contractor shall manufacture and deliver a minimum of 47 different frequencies of Preselect Bandpass Filters, with options for additional 13 different frequencies of Preselect Bandpass Filters. The Preselect Bandpass Filter required is a microwave cavity filter whose function is to pass unchanged the radar return energy at the carrier frequency and to attenuate out of band signals. Specific performance characteristics which must be met are: (1) Frequency Band of Interest: 2700 MHz to 3000 MHz; (2) 0.5 dB Bandwidth: 700 KHz minimum, tunable within band of interest; (3) Insertion Loss: 0.5 dB Maximum; (4) Rejection: 30 dB minimum +/- 25 MHz from center frequency and 60 dB minimum +/- 100 MHz from center frequency; (5) Impedance: 50 Ohms nominal; and, (6) Power: Must be able to tolerate radio frequency signals with power levels up to +18 dBM CW at the input connector without damage. Contractor must furnish all necessary personnel, material, equipment, services and facilities to supply Preselect Bandpass Filters. The proposed contract action is for supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. If no qualified responses are received, the Government intends to contract with Microwave Filter Company, Incorporated, E. Syracuse, New York for the supplies required. However, interested parties may identify their interest and capability by submitting a required qualifications statement. In order to be considered, firms must furnish detailed product data concerning their capability to supply a product that will satisfy the Government's needs. All proposals (including responses to the qualifications and capabilities statement items listed above) received within forty- five days after the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Solicitation No. 51WCNW606063MW will be issued O/A 07/03/96. Award will not be made until on or after 08/02/96. All responsible sources may submit a bid, proposal or quotation which shall be considered by the agency.
