NATIONAL POLAR-ORBITING OPERATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL SATELLITE SYSTEM (NPOESS) REVISED ACQUISITION STRATEGY INDUSTRY DAY On 20 June, 1996, from 1:00 PM until 3:30 PM interested parties are invited to attend a briefing conducted by government program representatives which will present the NPOESS Integrated Program Office's proposed Optimized Convergence acquisition strategy. This briefing will provide a forum for industry comment on the re-phased approach and other aspects of the program's status. In particular, the briefing will focus on the program's shift in emphasis from an immediate total system acquisition approach to one lead by the development of critical NPOESS payloads and alogrithms, and other risk reduction activities. Numerous individual payload development opportunities will be identified with potential awards in mid-1997. The briefing will be conducted at the NOAA Conference Center, 1305 East West Hwy, Silver Spring MD 20910. The NOAA Conference Center is adjacent to the Silver Spring Metro station (Red line) and has metered parking available beneath SSMC-3 and SSMC-4.
