The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has a requirement for 2,500,000 doses of DEPO-PROVERA injectable contraceptive to be produced over a 16 month period with a within- year option to procure up to an additional 5,000,000 doses during this period. The product will be jointly packaged with disposable syringes and needles required for its use. There will also be four one-year options for 2,500,000 doses per year with four within-year options to procure up to an additional 5,000,000 doses during each option year. As UPJOHN WORLDWIDE is currently the only FDA-approved source for the manufacture of this product, USAID intends to negotiate a contract with this organization on a sole-source basis.
