66 -- 66 - FURNISH MACHINE CONDITION MONITORING SYSTEM FOR ANDERSON RANCH AND BLACK CANYON POWERPLANTS. SOL 142596SQ1100130 Vibration monitoring equipment DUE 071196 POC Purchasing Agent, Marie Day, 208-334-1744, For technical info:, Mechanical Engineer, Ernie Bachman, 208-334-9561 The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation is seeking sources to provide equipment for Machine Condition Monitoring systems within the Snake River Area West Project. Purpose of this notice is to conduct a market survey to identify potential sources to supply vibration monitors for Units 1 and 2 at Anderson Ranch Powerplant, and Units 1 and 2 at Black Canyon Powerplant. These units have fluid film guide and thrust bearings and operate at low speeds. Thus vibration monitors measuring radial shaft vibration (runout) will be the primary monitoring system. As a secondary system, velocity monitors will allow the observation of operating frequency vibrations as well as resonance, and hydraulic or magnetic imbalance. Velocity transducers should provide a more linear frequency response for the lower frequencies encountered with these hydro units than would an accelerometer. These monitors installed on units at Anderson Ranch and Black Canyon will keep constant check on the unit shaft vibration. Analyses of the data generated by these monitors will allow plant and project personnel to evaluate the performance of the unit's bearings (upper and lower guides, turbine, and thrust) thereby increasing the effective- ness of the preventative maintenance program. Bearing wear and clearances will be monitored with these units. It will also, as an added benefit, not only indicate trouble with all unit bearings; thrust, turbine, etc., but also with the generator or turbine itself. The output of these devices will be programmed into the plant's supervisory control (automation) system. The vibration and velocity monitors are part of the ongoing plant automation and are part of the instrumentation needed for the eventual unmanning of the plant. The units will include alarm and shutdown circuitry that will shut the unit down prior to any major unit damage if excessive vibration is detected. Specifications for this monitoring equipment will be available under RFQ NO. 96-SQ-11-00130 with delivery scheduled for 8/16/96. Responses are required by July 11, 1996. All responses will be fully considered by the agency. Standard Industrial Classification code is 3829. (0169)
