COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 20,1996 PSA#1620U.S. Geological Survey, Procurement and Contracts Branch, 345
Middlefield Road, Mail Stop 285, Menlo Park, CA 94025 66 -- DIGITAL ACCELEROGRAPH Sol RFP 00004. Contact Point, Warren Saul,
Contract Specialist, 415/329-4168. The U.S. Geological Survey has a
requirement for the acquisition of digital accelerographs and related
equipment. These instruments must be fully self-contained, 3 to
18-channel, digital recording strong-motion, broadband accelerographs
with internal triaxial force balance 2g accelerometers, battery power
supply, PCMCIA removable flash-card memory for data storage, internal
high-speed PCMCIA modem, and GPS receiver, all in a self contained
water tight enclosure. These instruments shall be rugged, weigh less
than 100 lbs., and be capable of being transported over rough terrain
in a vehicle and then field installed with little or no calibration.
After installation, the instrument shall provide a real time data
stream and also wait in a standby condition until activated for tests
or triggered by ground motion. The instruments shall contain internal
PCMCIA memory and modems with an external RS-232 connector and
telephone jack which shall make the instrument capable of near real
time communication and remote interrogation, for changing system
parameters, or downloading data. The system shall operate in such a way
that recording is automatically initiated when ground acceleration
exceeds preset levels. Related equipment shall include, but not be
limited to surface and downhole force balance accelerometers, PCMCIA
memory and PCMCIA modems, GPS receivers and antennas, both with various
connectors and cables. All interested parties and/or responsible
sources shall respond, in writing, within 15 days of the publication of
this notice indicating your ability to meet the requirements described
herein. (164) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0413 19960619\66-0005.SOL)
