Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Diabetes and
Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) intends to purchase Laboratory
Equipment from Charles Supper Company. The Institute intends to
purchase laboratory equipment By Other Than Full And Open Competition
from Charles Supper Company., they are recommended as the sole source
for the Purchase Order. The intended source Charles Supper Company., is
the exclusive distributor of the Oxford Cryostream for North American.
The Oxford Cryostream Cooler is used for low temperature data
collection in x-ray diffraction experiments with protein crystals. The
cryostream cooler must be able to supply dry nitrogen gas stream of
programmable temperature range to 375 K. The temperature controlling
unit must be programmable and capable of controlling to + 0.1 K. The
temperature controlling unit must be able to facilitate for temperature
ramps,plateaus and combined ramps/plateaus so that automatic data
collections at different temperatures can be accomplished. The
temperature controlling unit must have a built in RS232 interface to
allow it to be interrogated or programmed remotely. The liquid N2 usage
must be approximately 0.6 1/hour or less. The cooler head must be small
((10cm diameter, (50cm long), portable, and supplied with a support
stand equipped with a translation stage with adjustable angle. The
cryo-transfer tubing connecting the cooler head and liquid N2 storage
vessel must be flexible and 130 cm or longer. The cryostream cooler
must be compatible with the existing X-ray generator, monchrometer,
mirror box and detector unit, and their geometrical arrangement within
a tightly confined space. All responsible sources may submit a
quotation, which if timely received, shall be considered by the agency.
All request for quotations must be in within the Simplified Acquisition
Thershold $50,000.(See Note 22). It is anticipated that Request for
Quotation (RFQ) Number NIH-NIDDK-96-185 will be available within
fifteen (15) days after the publication date of this synopsis. Receipt
of quotations will be due ten (10) after the release of the RFQ. The
anticipated award date is July 19, 1996. Requests for copies of the RFQ
must be in writing and may be requested by FAX (301)-480-4226 .
