The National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland, under Statutory Authority: 41 USC 253 (c)(1) (FAR 6.302-1) - (''Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements''), Notice of Intent, intends to procure the AXIL-ULTIMA1 E+ WORKSTATION, ULTRASPARE COMPATIBLE, AND IMAGING SOFTWARE a one year contract (one year warranty) from Andataco, 8521 Leesburg Pike, Vienna, VA 22l82. Any response must be received in writing within 45 calendar days from the published date of this notice, referencing QJS60220. This requirement consist of the following: A high performance workstation is required for neurosurgical studies of human patients in support of two projects as follows: (l)Interstitial Therapy with Targeted Protein Toxins for Malignant Brain Tumors. (2) Evaluation of Biological, Immunological, and Chemotherapeutic Parameters in Brain Tumor Patients. Both of these projects involve brain surgery and have been approved by the institutional review board (IRB) of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). Compatibility of all system components, including software, with existing National Institutes of Health (NIH) systems such as the Multimodality Radiological Image Processing Systems (MRIPS) is essential. Brain surgery requires extreme accuracy and the ability to resolve structures to an appropriate level. In this Mission Critical environment there is no place for small errors or incompatibilities. The high performance workstation shall have the following salient characteristics and features and shall also provide for the functions as follows: Axil-Ultimal Model E+ Sparc Compatible Workstation or better including, - One 167MHz CPU, 512Kbyte Cache or better. - Internal Memory of 512Mbyte or better. - Graphics Frame Buffer, 24 Bit, Creator 3D compatible. - Color CRT Monitor, 21 or better. - Type 5 keyboard/opt. mouse. - 2Gbyte Fast Wide SCSI-2 disk drive. - RasterVideo SBUS interface card, or better. - FDDI multi-mode fiber SAS interface. - Printer, AUI, and Power cables. - Solaris 2.5 on CD-ROM. - External 6X speed CD-ROM drive. RAID Disk Array, RAIDLite 24Gbyte or better including, - Tabletop enclosure, 6 bay or better, RAIDLite compatible. - Six 4.2Gbyte, 7200RPM, 9ms seek time disks in removable lockable canisters. Removable Optical Disk including, - Single bay table top removable drive enclosure. - Optical disk drive, 1.3Gbyte each. - One 1.3Gbyte optical disk cartridge. - Axil/AFS compatible optical software driver program. - SCSI cable kit, 5 feet in length. Box of 10 optical disk cartridges, 1.3Gbyte. Ethernet (IEEE 802.3 compliant) hub, 8 port, IEEE 10BaseT compliant. UPS 3-day air delivery, or better. Additionally, one day installation and configuration support, and hot line technical support (10:00 am to 9:00 pm EST) are included. All offers must provide a minimum of 3 references for similar contracts, (Commercial or Government) that demonstrate their ability to provide and maintain all the products specified (to include contact name, phone number). Telephone requests will not be honored. Affirmative responses are defined as written responses entitled ''Capability Statement'', with all data enclosed that are required to demonstrate their ability to satisfy this requirement. Terms and conditions, destination information, description information, descriptive literature/technical information describing the items proposed, maintenance and service information. Concerns offering to furnish equivalent/equal work to the items listed above will be considered only if responding with clear and convincing documentation demonstrating their ability to meet the requirements of this synopsis. Written responses shall include complete pricing information, equipment description containing sufficient technical information to permit agency analysis to establish a bonafide capability to meet the stated requirements as listed above. Responses will be evaluated according to who can meet the requirements at most favorable terms to the Government, considering the lowest overall cost alternative not necessarily at the lowest price. Only affirmative responses will receive full consideration. If no affirmative responses are received within (45) days from the date of listing this synopsis in the CBD which demonstrate a lower overall cost alternative available to the Government, the Contracting Officer will proceed with this acquisition to Andataco.
