COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 20,1996 PSA#1620NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center, Code 211, Greenbelt, MD 20771 70 -- 2D ASYNCHRONOUS GAMMA RAY IMAGING ELECTRONICS SYSTEM SOL
RFQ633-74899/994 POC Bill Bradley, Contracting Officer, 301-286-9474.
The NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) plans to issue a Request
For Quote (RFQ633-74899/994) on a sole source basis to Integrated
Detector & Electronics as the acquisition will be for a two
demensional, asynchronous gamma ray imaging electronics system. This
acquisition is in support of the Laboratory for High Energy
Astrophysics, Small Explorer Payload. The GSFC's experiment burst arc
second imaging system (basis) requires a low energy gamma ray imaging
electronics system. This system consists of a position senstive solid
statement microstrip detector, analog electronics and appropriate
digital acquisition and readout electronics. Sensor requirements: the
sensor is an integral part of the system. It must be epoxied into a
mounting fixture and wire bonded to a readout Application Specific
Integrated Circuit (ASIC) designed specifically for asynchronous gamma
ray imaging in addition, it must possess the following physical
characteristics: position sensing, with a pitch of 50 microns, double
sided (orthogonal positions from both sides), 256 strips per side,
operating voltage below 70 volts, (3pf capacitance per strip (total),
leakage current below .5 NA per strip. Electronics requirements: the
electronics consists of severl parts, including an ASIC preamplifier
chip, a digital control circuit and an interface to an ''IBM'' personal
computer. Specific requirments: output must be asynchronous, i.e., no
external trigger is required to acquire data from ASIC, trigger out
signal provided, time delay of trigger out signal must be adjustable up
to 10 uSEC, adjustable discriminator threshold from 0.25 - 1.0 Minimum
Ionizing Particle (MIP) peaking time adjustable from 1 - 10 uSEC,
noise level, ENC = 165 e + 6.1e/pF (or less) corresponding to ( 250
electrons for a 5 CM strip, rate capability up to 100 kHz, minimum of
11 bit digital output pulse height information, PC interface through
optical data line for noise immunity, data out should be sparsified,
i.e., hit channel and two neighboring channels must be read out,
multiplicity information (i.e., number of hit channels) is required as
part of the data out, hit channels must output a channel address,
output voltage corresponding to 1 MIP should be )100mV, system must
have the ability to mask off noisy/bad channels via software control,
and an automatic chip reset should be provided, but with user
adjustable time constant. All responsible sources may respond by
submitting a written narrative statement of their capability, including
detailed technical information and other technical literature,
demonstrating their ability to meet the above requirements, within 15
days of the publication of this notice to the above address. The
response shall be sufficient to permit agency analysis to establish a
bonafide capability to meet these requirments. No collect calls or
telephone requrest will be accepted. See Numbered Note(s): 22. (0170) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0429 19960619\70-0005.SOL)
