The Department of Justice, Justice Management Division, intends to negotiate with The Michie Company (Michie), Charlottesville, VA, for a subscription for updates and supplements to the latest edition of Federal Criminal Trials and Federal Courtroom Evidence. These publications contain copyright protected information which is utilized by Department attorneys as a research and trial preparation tool. This publication contains a complete reference to constitutional protections, federal criminal procedures and the rules of evidence to include narrative analysis of criminal legal problems, case law and statutory law. The information is organized and indexed as an efficient research system. The Michie publication is copyright protected and thus Michie is the only known source for updates and supplements to the publication. This is not a formal solicitation, however, interested concerns must respond within 45 days from the date of this synopsis with written documentation, detailed data and pricing information which clearly demonstrates their ability to perform this requirement. Responses received as a result of this notice of intent shall be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Responses will not be considered as either proposals or bids. A determination by the Government not to open this requirement to competition based upon the written responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. The proposed contract will supply Department locations nationwide. The anticipated period of performance under any resultant contract will be one year.
