Naval Research Laboratory has a requirement for 4,600 meters of custom polarization maintaining fiber with the following specification: Mode field diameter 8.1 +/- 0.7 micrometer, Cladding diameter 2 micrometer, Core to clad offset (1.0 micrometer, Buffer coating diameter 250 micrometer, Cutoff wavelength ( 1500 nm, Attenuation @ 1550 nm (1.5 db/Km, h parameter ( 1 x 10-6, Proof test level 100 kpsi, Length total of 4600 meters to be supplied in two pieces not of equal lengths with the difference in lengths to be at least 100 meters (e.g. two pieces of 2300m each is not acceptable, whereas one piece 2250m and the other 2350m is acceptable).
