The US Postal Service is solicitating proposals for basement renovation/freight elevator addition at the Ames IA Main Post Office. The value of the work is $300,000 to $350,000. Description of work: Consists of excavating the basement crawl space, erecting a foundation kneewall, and the demolition of non-load-bearing walls to creat a large open work area. The north areaway is to be remodeled to accomodate a new exit door and stair. Accessible rest room facilities for men and women will be added. A 4000 lb. capacity hydraulic freight elevator is to be added connecting the new basement work area with the first floor.
