YORK TO ARS'S PLUM ISLAND RESEARCH CENTER SOL RFP 12-3K06-96 POC

Contracting Officer, on (301) 344-3786 The USDA, Agricultural Research
Service (ARS) intends to purchase, for its Plum Island Animal Disease
Research Center (PIADC), Plum Island, New York, approximately 11,000
linear feet of submarine electrical power/fiber optic cable inclusive
of the following supplies and services: 1) the contractor shall furnish
and install, near the fifth utility pole west of the Orient Point
breaker house, a pad mounted 13.2/7.62 kV, 600 A, 3 PH, 4 W, 60 HZ,
electrical switchgear, a precast concrete electrical vault, a fiber
optic cable box, a chain link fence, and shall perform all associated
site and utility work; 2) a combination electrical power/fiber optic
cable approximately 11,000 feet long shall be furnished and installed
from the Orient Point switchgear pad and fiber optic cable box, running
under Long Island Sound and Plum Gut and extending to Plum Island, with
the terminating portion of the cable being installed in a micro-drilled
boring; 3) at Plum Island the contractor shall furnish and install two
precast concrete vaults and an electrical switchgear; 4) the fiber
optic portion of the cable will run in a trench approximately 1500 feet
long to the telephone room in the existing warehouse; 5) the electrical
power portion of the cable shall be run below grade from the first
manhole up to a new pad mounted switchgear similar to the one noted
above; and 6) the contractor shall furnish, install, perform and/or
obtain all associated and appurtenant submittals, equipment, demolition
and disposal, permits, testing and connections as set forth in the
solicitation. The Government anticipates the release of an IFB in
mid-July of 1996. This procurement is a total small business set aside
(SBSA). All requests for the solicitation package must be made in
