Commercially available products are being tested with the objective of establishing a data base for use in composing a performance specification on synthetic lubricants that act as metal conditioners in a manner that results in a dry film on weapon surfaces. The synthetic lubricant must be capable of being applied in the field, effecting metal surfaces that are corrosion, wear, and firing residue resistant. Cost of testing to be borne by the Government. Costs associated with the production, formulation, or shipping of candidate products are to be borne by the manufacturer. (0172)
