Testing Lab, Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii, has a requirement for
a quantity of 250 rolls containing 1,000 custom design blank bardcode
labels, and 126 ea high speed black thermal transfer resin ribbons for
use on govt-owned Datamax DMX 430 thermal transfer barcode printer
with 300dpi print resolution. Code 39, code 39 mod 43, code 128 and
Interleaved 2 of 5 symbologies will be used to produce barcodes. The
label material shall be evenly matched with the proposed ribbon
material required to generate up to a 13 character barcode with human
readable print in all symbologies and be scanned with 100% accuracy
using govt-owned Symbol Technologies LS2000 VHD scanners, HP 18587A
barcode reader and Olympus AU800 specimen analyzer. Delivery shall be
FOB destination in (2) equal shipments per year. The customized label
shall consist of a white polypropylene or other suitable synthetic film
backed by a release liner (piggyback label). Overall label dimension
are 3.375 inches wide by 1.8125 inches high and precut with 3 vertical
and 4 horizontal slits. The ribbon shall produce a stable, dense,
abrasion resistant, and erasure resistant barcode with excellent edge
definition with a print contrast and light area reflectance of 98% or
better and 0% reflectance of dark areas. The ribbons shall have a
anti-static and anti-stick backcoating to prevent electrical charges
from being transferred to electro-mechanical components of the printer.
Offerors shall be required to submit bid samples of labels and ribbon
for evaluation and testing on govt- owned equipment. The Government
anticipates to award a firm fixed-price contract for the base year 1
Oct 96 - 30 Sep 97 with (4) year options. The proposed solicitation
contained herein is unrestricted and will be issued o/a 8 Jul 96 and
