COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 24,1996 PSA#1622Carderock Division Naval Surface Warfare Center, Ship Systems
Engineering Station, Bldg. 77L, Philadelphia, PA 19112-5083 B -- REMOVAL OF DISSOLVED COPPER AND ZINC, AND MARINE FOULING FROM
WASTEWATER STREAM OF SHIP HULL CLEANING DEBRIS DUE 072296 POC Margaret
Cox-Marvel, Contract Specialist, (215) 897-7164. The Carderock
Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center is seeking souces for
processing equipment and technical expertise for the removal of:
particulate cupros oxide and zinc oxide, dissolved copper and zinc, and
marine fouling from a wastewater stream of ship hull cleaning debris.
During in-water ship hull cleaning operations, barnacles, marine
fouling, slime and other marine organic materials are removed from
underwater hull surfaces which have been painted with an anti-fouling
(AF) paint system. Design options are being developed to capture and
evacuate this hull cleaning debris in seawater at a flow rate of up to
200 GPM. A nominal 4-inch diameter hose will convey the 200 GPM
wastewater stream to a processing unit on the surface. The wastewater
stream must be processed so that as little as 1 part per billion of
dissolved copper or zinc are present in the seawater effluent. This
announcement is to consider all potential sources to accomplish this
task, but does not obligate the Government to award a contract.
Requests may be faxed to (215) 897-7766. No telephonic requests will be
accepted. (0172) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0017 19960621\B-0007.SOL)
