46 -- WATER SOFTENER SOL RFQ 69D-360-96 DUE 071696 POC Diane Ralston, Contracting Officer, (414) 384-2000, ext. 6998 Furnish a sodium cycle, cation exchange, vertical downflow pressure type, twin water softening system, complete with piping services, electrical services, controls, accessories, and auxiliary equipment for Project No. 585-96-114 at the VA Medical Center, Iron Mountain, Michigan. Water to be treated is reported to have a total hardness of CaCO3 of 12-20 grains and a pH of 7.75. At a minimum, each softener shall be capable of delivering water at any rate up to 140gpm continuous flow with a a maximum pressure loss of 15 PSIG and up to 190 gpm flow rate at a maximum pressure loss of 25 PSIG. Total loss of head through unit, and assembly, between the gages, including softener, valves, piping, and other similar items shall not exceed 15 PSIG. Regeneration shall be accomplished within a period of 120 minutes and occur not more than once per day. Issue date is on or about June 26, 1996. Award is subject to the availability of funds.
