The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurst intends to procure a turn-key scanning electron microscope (SEM) system which will become an integral part of materials analyses conducted in the Lakehurst Materials Laboratory. The SEM will permit inspection of both conductive and non-conductive samples without any special surface modifications such as sputter coating. This is accomplished by providing an SEM with a dual vacuum system capable of variable pressures in the specimen chamber ranging from low vacuum pressures (3-4 torr) to the standard high vacuum pressures while maintaining the electron optical column under high vacuum. The SEM system should include the following: backscatter detector (Robinson RBSED or equivalent), infrared chamberview system with dedicated 6'' monitor (Robinson IRCVS or equivalent), Lexmark Optra C PRO (or equivalent) color laser printer, spare parts (10 tungsten filaments and one Wehnelt assembly), Microsoft Professional Office for Windows 3.11, 2 year warranty against all defects, operation and maintenance manuals, 8 hours on-site training for 5 personnel, 32 hours off-site training at manufacturer's facility for two personnel, and delivery and installation.
