Stiles, GP54, 205-544-0381/Contracting Officer NASA/MSFC plans to issue a sole-source Request for Quote for award of a purchase order for the ULTIMA Sensor Analysis. The contractor will work to: (1)research in depth available pupil, image plane, segment, and interferometric approaches to adaptive segmented optics; (2) provide technological approaches to developing extremely lightweight, segmented mirrors; (3) provide an in-depth cost analysis based on analogy and costing models; and (4) provide a final report and deployment scale model representative of the recommended ULTIMA approaches and/or designs. Consequently it is not feasible to compete this procurement -- Interested firms have 15 days from the publication date of this synopsis to submit their qualification/capabilities in the area mentioned above. Such qualifications/ capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after the 15 days or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract on a full and open basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
