Acoustical doors required for Phase 1 of the Concert Hall renovation. Doors are operated with cam hinges and the required hardware is installed by the door manufacturer in the shop to ensure that the quality and Sound Transmission Class (STC) rating are not compromised during the process of installing the required hardware. Certified test reports indicating the acoustical performance of the doors meet STC performance as called out in the door schedule. Test data shall be produced from an accredited acoustical laboratory and certified by an independent acoustical consulting firm. Reports should indicate that the test was performed on the doors and frames of the type to be supplied in conformance with the requirements of test method ASTM E90-83, 85, 87, or 90. Field STC or Noise Isolation Class, in conformance with the requirements of test method ASTM E336-84, performance of no more than five points below the laboratory performance on similar installations shall also be required. STC51-rated acoustic door and frame including hardware and finish, 3-1/4'' thick, oversize special construction with single leaf pass through doors and acoustical hatch: 1 pr leaf size 4'9'' 9'6'', double. STC45-rated acoustic doors and frame including finish: 1 lv leaf size 3'0'' x 7'0'', single; 2 pr leaf size 3'2'' x 7'0'', double; 1 pr leaf size 4'0'' x 7'8'', double. Door shall be 2-1/2'' thick flush design of cold-rolled steel construction, 16 gauge minimum thickness. Doors will be required by NLT 1 Aug 96 to coincide with completion of Phase 1 construction. Doors are to meet 1-1/2 hr fire rating requirement. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to enter into a sole source contract with Industrial Acoustics Company (IAC), Bronx NY under authority of FAR 6.302 as it is believed that IAC is the only manufacturer who produces acoustic-type doors that are pre-hung at the factory. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals.
