The Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking for information and comments from manufacturers, vendors, and system integrators concerning a two part availability of a land mobile radio. PART ONE: The following is a base line criteria that is needed. (1) Equipment is capable of operating in the 150 - 172 MHZ VHF spectrum (2) Analog and digital voice modulation using 12 Kbit. (3) CVSD vocoding (4) DES encryption that is compatible with our existing infrastructure. (5) Features to include concealed or disguised use. (6) Provide implementation of type one encryption and key management with crypto ignition key, that is compatable with Saber indictor radio. (7) Multiple encryption keys. (8) Nationwide service and support. (9) Option of using GPS frequency channel selection for steering the frequency syntheizer derived from position input. (10) Contractor support of the product for ten years including training, maintenance, field service, and technical documentation. (11) Synchronous 12 Kbps and Asychronous 1200, 2400, 4800, and 9.6 Kbps data. (12) Radio functions fully programmable from laptop by the RS232 port. (13) Limited field programmable from radio key pad. (14) Siren and PA compatibility. (15) Power rating of 20 - 110 watts output (programmable). PART TWO: Concerns the availability of a (drop-in-replacement) radio per the following: (1) Radio must be able to drop-in-place of a Syntor-X and Spectra mobile radio, also utilizing existing cables, control head microphone, interface-box and related accessories.
