Under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253 (c) (1), FAR 6.302-1, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) intents to negotiate with Varian Associates Inc., 219 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania 17055 for an Extended Travel Range (ETR) Couch upgrade for a Clinac 4/100 accelerator. The ETR Couch shall include full motorized control of longitudinal, lateral, vertical, and angular positions via the lightweight, hand-held pendant. The longitudinal and lateral motions may be positioned manually as well. The ETR couch shall be controlled from a stand-alone electronics cabinet, which contains drive circuits and battery back-up for power failures. The ETR Couch upgrade must meet all current electrical and mechanical safety criteria. The manufacturer shall provide documentation that the upgrade functions properly with the intended equipment, including a list of sites with similar upgrades. Mechanical specifications and standard accessories shall be described in the RFP. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, however, if an interested party believes they can meet the above specifications, they may submit a statement of capabilities. Information furnished shall include enough material, in sufficient detail, to perform a proper evaluation of their ability to perform. Closing date is 45 days after publication of this notice.
