99 -- DOME HEAT SHIELD STORAGE CART POC Fred Felton, LSO-360, Kennedy Space Center, FL 32899. Lockheed Martin Space Operations (LMSO), NASA's Space Shuttle Processing Contractor at Kennedy Space Center (KSC), FL, seeks sources capable of fabricating nine (9) storage and handling carts with three (3) lifting slings used for storage and lifting of Space Shuttle Main Engine Dome Heat Shields. When issued, the formal solicitation will include a Statement of Work along with drawings which are considered final design drawings (although shop drawings will still be required per the Statement of Work). The storage and handling carts are approximately ten (10) feet long, five (5) feet wide and six (6) feet high and are mounted on four (4) swivel casters. There are two (2) shelves on locking roller bearing slides used to shelve the dome heat shields. These carts are capable of being lifted from the top and require proof loading in accordance with NSS/GO-1740.9 and the design drawing. In addition to the carts, there are three (3) lifting slings used to lift the carts. The slings also require fabrication and proof loading per NSS/GO-1740.9.
