SUBSONIC TRANSPORTS SOL 1-160-DF.1255 DUE 081596 POC Susan C. Shockcor,
804-864-2989 NASA Langley Research Center intends to issue a
sole-source procurement to Boeing Commercial Airplane Group, Seattle,
Washington, 96124-2207, in accordance with FAR 6.302-1, Only One
Responsible Source. This determination was made subsequent to NASA's
sources-sought synopsis published 3/18/96 to which Boeing was the sole
respondent. The contract is for services in support of NASA Langley
Research Center's Advanced Subsonic Technology (AST) Noise Reduction
Program, which is designed to provide noise reduction technology to the
U.S. aircraft industry. The scope of the contract is to conduct
research and development in the understanding and control of airframe
and engine noise as related to advanced subsonic aircraft. Research
areas of interest include theoretical and experimental studies of noise
control of engine fan tone and broadband noise, jet noise and airframe
noise, development of advanced noise reduction concepts including
advanced nacelle liners and active control, development of airframe,
fan, and jet noise prediction methods including effects of active
control, and measurement, prediction and control of aircraft interior
noise. This contract will be issued as a performance-based task
assignment contract, estimated to require approximately 100,000 direct
