protection, develop construction access, clear and grub, seed and
re-seed the area under contract. The contract will require the
development of a gravel haul road approximately 1,600 linear feet (The
approximately 1,300 tons of gravel required are to be removed upon
completion of job), 7,000 tons of riprap, 7,500 square yards of
geotextile (filter fabric), clearing and grubbing one acre of
riverbank. Gravel access development will include placement of gravel
and stripping and re-use of topsoil. The contractor shall keep in mind
that the area receiving stone protection placement is an experimental
research facility and that any damage to property will result in
permanent destruction of the experiments. Archaeological monitoring of
the site is mandatory. This job has a duration of 120 calendars days
and is estimated to be in the $100,000 to $250,000 range. This
solicitation is UNRESTRICTED. Solicitation will be available on or
about 22 July 1996. Bid opening will be on or about 22 August 1996.
Funds are not presently available for this acquisition. No contract
award will be made until appropriated funds are made available from
which payment for contract purposes can be made. Award will be made
pursuant to DIGS Program (P.L. 100-656). This work will be performed
for Knox Agricultural Experiment Station Riverbank Protection Project
Tennessee River Basin, Ft. Loudoun Lake, Knoxville, TN. All responsible
