9533. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, Ship Systems
Engineering Station, is seeking general information from manufacturers
of fixed and portable refrigerant leak detection equipment. The Navy
would like a stationary system capable of monitoring for refrigerant
leakage in the space around shipboard air conditioning and
refrigeration machinery. The ideal system should be able to sample the
air at multiple locations and provide a readout in ppm of refrigerant
concentration with multiple alarm levels and data-logging capability.
The types of refrigerants detected should inlcude R-134a, R-114, and
R-12. Also sought is manufacturer information on hand-held electronic
refrigerant leak detectors for pinpointing the source of leakage. The
Navy plans to evaluate this equipment and prepare a specification for
competitive procurement. This is not a request for proposal and does
not commit the government to the award of a contract. Any comments
provided may/may not be included in a formal solicitation. The
government will not pay for any information received in response to
this request nor will the government compensate any respondent for any
costs incurred in developing the information provided to the
government. Please do not telephone. Interested manufacturers should
