A -- REEVALUATION OF REGULATORY GUIDANCE FOR SEISMIC CATEGORY 1 CONCRETE STRUCTURES SOL RS-RES-96-062 DUE 081496 POC Mary H. Mace, Contracting Officer, 301/415-7314 /Paulette Smith, Contract Negotiator, 301/415-6594 The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requires technical assistance to identify and evaluate current versions of structural and seismic design codes and standards that will have an impact on the review of standard reactor designs, and to determine and evaluate the need for revisions to the Regulatory Guides 1.142, Safety-Related Concrete Structures for Nuclear Power Plants (Other Than Reactor Vessels and Containments), and 1.143, Design Guidance for Radioactive Waste Management Systems, Structures, and Components Installed in Light-Water-Cooled Nuclear Power Plants. The main goal of this program is to provide the basis for updating the above regulatory guides. The contractor will (1) determine the needed changes or revisions to regulatory guides 1.142 and 1.143 to bring guides up to date with current industry codes and standards and identify areas of the codes and standards that are applicable to regulatory guides 1.142 and 1.143, (2) recommend wording changes to the regulatory guides that would satisfy NRC requirements for standard reactors and cover revised or updated industry code criteria, and (3) recommend the most appropriate course of action necessary to make the changes identified (e.g., write/revise regulatory guides, or combine regulatory guides). The proposed period of performance is 15 months. Proposals for this requirement may be submitted by all concerns, i.e., large businesses, small businesses, and small businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals. A source list comprising the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of all concerns requesting a copy of the solicitation, with large busineses identified by an asterisk, will be provided with the solicitation. In order to identify large businesses on the list, a request for the solicitation should indicate the size of the business based upon a SIC code of 8999. The size standard for this solicitation is average annual receipts for preceding three fiscal years not to exceed $5.0 million. A copy of the solicitation and all subsequent amendments will be provided to each requester. Interested firms should submit written requests for RS- RES-96-062. Telephone requests will not be honored. Closing date for proposals is 30 days after issue date of solicitation. (0180)
