Febach (301) 975-6326 The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to purchase services for preparation of biological samples for optical manipulation and measurement of forces bewteen molecules using optical tweezers. NIST intends to purchase these services on a sole source basis in accordance with FAR 6.302-1 from Rani Kishore, North Potomac, MD. Required services include: constructing samples of microspheres coated with various biomolecules; quantifying the interaction between the biomolecules using the NIST optical tweezers based tensiometer; preparing samples of biological material for manipulation using optical tweezers; quantifying the effectiveness of manipulation using the NIST optical tweezers apparatus. FOB destination 12 months from contract award. Period of performance 12 months. NIST shall issue a written solicitation and anticipates award on September 20, 1996. No solicitation is available.
