97208-2946 Y -- LONG TOM LEVEE REPAIR, LONG TOM RIVER, OREGON SOL
DACW57-96-B-0025 DUE 082996 POC Contract Specialist MARTINA HARWOOD
(503) 326-5816 (Site Code DACW57) The existing levee/revetment at three
locations along the Long Tom River has eroded to the point where
significant bank failure is imminent if repair is not undertaken. The
lowermost of these sites is located about 1/4 mile downstream of the
Alpine Road Bridge near Monroe, Oregon. The erosion area is about 250
feet long and has encroached into the right bank levee structure. The
next upstream site is located on the right bank about one mile above
the Alpine Road Bridge. About 320 feet of revetment and bankline are
severely eroded. The furthest upstream site, which extends for about
300 feet, is located on the left bank about one mile above the Stroda
drop structure. Continued erosion at these sites will breach the levee
structure, leading to reduced flow capacity of the Long Tom and
flooding of adjacent lands. The purpose of the repair is to prevent
this occurrence. The proposed action is reconstruction of levee
bankline slopes. The revetment would consist of an 18 inch layer of
class II riprap placed on a 1 vertical to 2 horizontal slope, underlain
with a 12 inch layer of gravel bedding material. The riprap would
extend from 2 feet below the top of the embankment structure to a point
approximately 5 feet below the channel bottom. The quantity of material
to be used for the repair at each site follows and is shown in cubic
yards in the order of riprap, bedding excavation, and embankment: Site
1 (250 FT in length);630 CY, 400 CY, 800 CY, 2070 CY. Site 2 (320 FT
in length); 790 CY, 500 CY, 920 CY, 2240 CY. Site 3 (300 FT in length);
760 CY, 490 CY, 900 CY, 3620 CY. The estimated cost range is between
$250,000 and $500,000. This procurement is open to both large and small
business. The size standard for small businesses is a concern,
including affiliates, having an average annual gross sales or receipts
for the preceding three years not to exceed $17.0 million. Please
indicate business size when responding. Tentative availability of
Invitation for Bid is on or about July 31, 1996 at a cost of $25.00,
which is nonrefundable. Tenative bid opening date is on or about August
29, 1996. Contract work should be completed within approximately 60
days from date of award. All responsible sources may(0180) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0127 19960701\Y-0007.SOL)
