39 -- FLAT MAIL BUNDLE COLLATOR FOR US POSTAL SERVICE (USPS) BUNDLES OF FLAT SIZED MAIL Due 070196. Contact Point, Pauline C. McTeer, Fax, 703-280-8412. Sources Sought. The US Postal Service is seeking contractors capable of providing a flat mail bundle collator. The collator will be used to merge 2 to 10 bundles of flat sized mail which correspond to a single carrier route. The bundles will be provided by mailers sequenced in the order of delivery. Each piece within a bundle shall contain an address which includes the delivery point POSTNET bar code. The output of the machine shall be a single collated bundle in delivery sequence order. Individual bundles are typically 3 to 12 inches thick through there may be several bundles for any single mailing within a carrier route. The USPS mail base contains flats ranging from 4 to 15.75 inches in length, from 4 to 12 inches in width, from 0.0007 to 1.25 inches thick and weighing from 0.01 to 6 pounds. The mail can be of the following types; magazines (with or without sleeves or which are polywrapped), newspapers, padded envelopes, single sheet fliers, compact disks in boxes, etc. The collator shall have multiple in-feed stations, must be compacted(occupy less than 75 square feet) and be operated by a single person. Interested firms are requested to submit any written material, drawings, photographs, and VHS videos pertaining to their equipment. This announcement does not in any way commit the US Postal Service to test or purchase any equipment.
