07703-5000 59 -- MARKET SURVEY FOR CONVERSION OF F-STOCK AN/VVS-2(V)2A AND
AN/VVS- 2(V)3 TO A-STOCK AN/VVS-2(V)1A DUE 071596 POC Susan F. Weir,
Electronics Engineer, 908-427-5722. This is a Market Survey to locate
additional sources for a conversion/repair program. This program will
convert government F-stock Driver's Viewers for the AN/VVS-2(V)2A, NSN:
5855-01-096-0872, and AN/VVS-2(V)3, NSN: 5855-01-105-7793 to an A-stock
AN/VVS-2(V)1A (non-coc), NSN: 5855-01-096-0871, configuration. The
potential quantity is 500 ea. and delivery is expected to begin 120
days after the contract is awarded, at a rate of 100 ea./month. The
AN/VVS-2 enables a closed-hatch vehicle to be driven during nighttime
conditions by amplifying ambient light from the sky (moon, stars,
skyglow, etc.). The AN/VVS-2(V)2A and the AN/VVS-2(V)3 series of the
night viewer use the prism head assembly and are used in the M1 series
Abrams Main Battle Tank, and the M2/M3 family of Bradley Fighting
Vehicles; respectively. The AN/VVS-2(V)1A is used in M60, M113, M88 &
M728 and uses a mirror head assembly in lieu of the prism head
assembly. The conversion effort would entail the following tasks:
cleaning, inspection, test and evaluation of all viewers received;
replacing 100% of the Tube (MX-9644) and Magnifier Assemblies;
installing new Entrance Window & Mirror Assemblies and Mount Assemblies
for the V1A version on each viewer; adding a second purge port to
eyepieces as necessary; final testing and reporting. The response MUST
include identification of the source for the MX-9644, along with a
statement from that source that they can indeed supply these image
tubes. The response must also include documentation detailing how the
testing of these assemblies will be accomplished; furthermore, the
response must establish that the offeror is capable of meeting the
delivery schedule and monthly quantities set forth above. The current
source for the AN/VVS-2's is Litton Electro-Optical Systems, Garland,
TX. Detailed technical data for this conversion/repair is not available
from the Army. Suppliers capable of performing the tasks required for
the conversion must so indicate by writing to Commander, CECOM, ATTN:
AMSEL-LC-ED-IN (S. Weir), Fort Monmouth, NJ, 07703-5000. Successful
supplier(s) will be required to warrant that the converted systems
supplied will satisfactorily perform when used for the purpose intended
by the Army. For additional information contact Ms. Susan Weir at
908-427-5722 or Mr. Jerry Kennedy at 908-532-8358, or FAX 908-532-8181,
or E-mail to kennedy@doim6.monmouth.army.mil. The deadline for
government receipt of responses to this notice is 15 July 1996. (0183) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0420 19960702\59-0005.SOL)
