A -- RIOT CONTROL GRENADE SOL DAAM01-96-R-0066 DUE 080996 POC Technical Point of Contact Henry St. Pierre (410) 671-5527 (Site Code DAAM01) The Product Manager for Smoke/Obscurants is interested in determining if there exists in the commercial sector a riot control grenade for application to military vehicles. The following are the required characteristics for the riot control grenade: a. Compatible with existing 66 millimeter grenade dischargers. b. An ejectable type grenade that does not exceed 9.938 inches in length and is extractable from the discharger tube by hand without the use of any tools. c. A single riot control grenade shall have a range of 60 to 90 meters. d. A single riot control grenade shall contain a chemical irritant this is approved or currently being approved for use by the United States Forces, that would disperse a rioting crowd at its operating range. e. The riot control grenade, or the associated sub-munitions, shall not cause any undue safety/health hazards to the targeted rioting crowd. f. The riot control grenade shall be currently in production or currently undergoing approval for use by civilian police forces. g. A single riot control grenade shall cost no more than $50.00. There is no commitment on the part of the U.S. Army to award a contract as a result of this request for information nor to pay for the information received.
